As stated in the post below, I was selling my vegan cupcakes at the Rolly's Garage Midnight Market last weekend. Business was great - and the music was pretty amazing too. I didn't get a chance to record any of the performers because I was busy hustling my booth, but I did step away for a moment to record my friend Melanie performing an impromptu cover of Bob Marley.
Her album drops TODAY!

GZA for NXNE
For a live music fiend, I didn't really take advantage of NXNE this year... I hate this wristband business and I felt like it was more quantity than quality with the bands this year. I did, however catch the end of Wintersleep on Friday and snagged a free wristband on Sunday and got to catch the Beat Lounge at Revival. I couldn't stay for the whole thing, but Marmalade tells me Rich Kidd took it. Big Pops second.
I also went to see GZA perform for FREE at Yonge and Dundas Square at the early time of 8PM. I only caught the last half of the performance and as you can see the crowd was reppin' the Wu pretty hard. It's nice to see a lively Toronto crowd - and in the early evening too!
He was followed by The Cool Kids - who I wasn't really feeling. We left early and opted for Portabello burgers and french fries with dijon mayo at Sin & Redemption. What does it tell you that I'd rather pay $5 for fries than stay and listen to a free concert... and believe me, I'm CHEAP!

I Start To Run...
White Denim's album 'Fit' comes out next week in the UK, and the US release date hasn't been announced yet. Which means it's probably already downloadable somewhere online... Alas, it still hurts my heart that these guys are getting more love over there than over here... I WANNA SEE THEM LIVE!!!
I wonder how the bass player got suckered into the running...

Bonnaroo by Numbers
6 days away from home.
30 hours driven.
1 giant Jesus statue emerging from the depths of a Tennessee pond.
1 tent pole broken.
1 missed alarm.
9 freshly squeezed lemonades at $4 each!
3 bowls of vegetarian sesame noodles.
1 dead camera.
1 missing memory card.
4 Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Bars.
367 bad tattoos spotted.
4 days of music and art.
43 bands watched.
107 photos taken.
My 2nd crazy Bonnaroo weekend.
Sadly, I didn't get much video recorded as my camera died the 2nd day - right as the Beastie Boys brought Nas on stage... Balls. I did, however, manage to catch the best sign language interpretation I've ever seen on video...
Santigold's Unstoppable interpreted in sign language:
For those of you who are interested in who I caught there, the list is as follows:
Day 1: Alberta Cross, Janelle Monae, MURS, Hockey, Portugal, The Man, The Knux, Chairlift, People Under the Stairs, Passion Pit, Midnite. Favourite band of the day: MURS
Day 2: The Itals, Dirty Projectors, Animal Collective, St Vincent, Galactic, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Grizzly Bear, Santigold, Al Green, TV On The Radio, Beastie Boys, David Byrne, Phoenix, Public Enemy, Femi Kuti, Crystal Castles, Girl Talk, Pretty Lights. Favourite band of the day: BEASTIE BOYS!!! But that sort of goes without saying, so I'd it's a toss up between Dirty Projectors and St Vincent
Day 3: Wailing Souls, Allen Toussaint, Booker T and the DBTs, Bon Iver, Raphael Saadiq, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Of Montreal, Elvis Costello, The Mars Volta. Favourite band of the day: Bon Iver
Day 4: Mike Ferris and the Roseland Rhythm Revue, Citizen Cope, Erykah Badu, Brett Dennen, Andrew Bird, Snoop Dogg. Favourite band of the day: Erykah Badu

500 Days of Summer
I'm like a huge sucker for romantic comedies... But not the lame-o North American ish that star that guy... what's his name? Matthew McConaughey... but I'm obsessed with Korean RC's!!!
HOWEVER...
Once in a while a movie comes out that's in English that might peak my interest...
Here's one of them:
If anything, the soundtrack promises to be a good one!
